Mitteldeutsche Fluorit GmbH
Mitteldeutsche Fluorit GmbH (Central German Fluorite Ltd.) is located in Schobsetal near Gehren in the Thuringian Forest (Thüringer Wald). It is a member of the Fluorchemie Group and was founded in 2004 in order to process the raw fluorite and barite excavated by the Phönix Fluß- und Schwerspat Bergwerk GmbH. Mitteldeutsche Fluorit GmbH was established on the premises of the former VEB Fluß- und Schwerspatbetrieb Ilmenau (VEB Fluorite and Barite Company, Ilmenau), which is currently being renovated in order to transform it into a modern and environmentally compatible industrial plant.
