R22 (chlorodifluoromethane or difluoromonochloromethane) is produced by the Fluorchemie GmbH in Frankfurt solely for further processing in the fluoropolymer-synthetics industry.
These synthetics are characterised above all by to their high chemical durability and their extremely smooth, water-repellent and resistant surface. Known uses include in the production of non-stick surfaces for cooking pans, breathable fabrics and dirt repellent coatings for textiles and metals, for example on car rims.
